Date: 06 March 2020 BUKAM’s International Women’s Day Events Beykent University’s Application and Research Centre for Women’s and Family Studies (BUKAM) organised six events for International Women’s Day. 8th March International Women’s Day Conversation and Award Ceremony Chief Editor of Woman TV, Ahu Özyurt, gathered together with our students on Ayazağa-Maslak Campus, Small Stage, on 9th March 2020 Monday. Interior Photography Installation: “Turkey’s First Females” The event organised for 8th March International Women’s Day was held on Ayazağa- Maslak Campus under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Bilge Yıldırım Gönül. Beykent’s Women from the Perspective of Beykent’s Students The installation under the supervision of the faculty member at the Department of Communication and Design, Asst. Prof. Çeyiz Makal Fairclough, was opened to visit on 10th March 2020 Tuesday at 11.00. Only 1 Woman Directed by Levent Aras, the play “Only 1 Woman” in which Melike Aktaş and Yaren Oktay are featuring met the audience on Ayazağa-Maslak Campus Small Stage. Exhibition of Beykent University’ Faculty Members Special works of our faculty members relating to 8th March International Women’s Day were exhibited on Ayazağa-Maslak Campus. Project Exhibition of Architecture Students in Memory of Neslican Tay The exhibition in memory of Neslican Tay, the role model in cancer fighting who tried to draw attention to cancer screening, was held under the supervision of Prof. Nilay Evcil from the Department of Architecture (Turkish). Held at the Additional 3 Foyer Area, the exhibition was opened to visit on 9th March 2020 Tuesday at 16.00. Director of the Beykent University’s Application and Research Centre for Women’s and Family Studies, Prof. Yıldız Y. Güzey stated that “Even though the developments have been taken place regarding women’s rights around the world, it is a fact that women are getting paid less than men.”, and he continued to his speech stating that the centre had been striving to ensure a scientific, social, and cultural education since its foundation with all the awareness of these facts.
