Software Engineers develop software in all digital environments of daily life, primarily in banking, automotive, telecommunication, health, defence, transportation, media, e-government, and e-commerce.

They serve as project managers, team leaders and team members in the software projects in all of these sectors, and play an enterprising role.
They take active role in requirements analysis, system and software design, software implementation, software and product testing, and maintenance of the software product
They also carry out academic research in the field of software.
