Student Mobility for Traineeship

Traineeship activity provides students with practical work experience on vocational education they are receiving. Traineeship activity does not necessarily have to be related to students’ diploma programme. However, it should be conducted in a business sector which is related to students’ vocational education programme.

Activity period can last from a minimum of 2 months to maximum of 12 months for different academic levels (Associate Degree, Undergraduate Degree, Master’s Degree, PhD). Traineeship activity can be conducted in each grade of period of study and within 12 months after graduation. If senior students decide to conduct their traineeship after the graduation, they need to apply before they graduate (while they are Associate Degree, Undergraduate Degree or Master’s Degree students). Graduate students cannot make an application.

If the institution is closed because of a holiday, traineeship activity may be interrupted. Grant is paid for the non-working days but these days are not added to activity period. In order to fulfil minimum working days, students must make a research about non-working days beforehand and make sure they will fulfil minimum working days. Weekends are not included in above-mentioned non-working days.

Erasmus Traineeship Duration

The minimum duration for internship mobility is 2 months and the maximum period is 12 months.
The duration of the activity must be carried out without interruption.


Prerequisites of Application

  • GPA:
    2.20/4.00 (58/100) for Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree students
    2.50/4.00 (65/100) for Master’s Degree and PhD students.
    Grade conversion is made according to YÖK (Council of Higher Education) Conversion Scale.
  • Students are required to find the institution that they will carry out their traineeship and receive their approval before applying Erasmus Student Mobility for Traineeship. Before they select the students, Turkish authorities must learn about the institution and make sure that institution will accept the student.
  • Traineeship content and duties must be related to students’ vocational school programme. Every student has the right to apply for Erasmus Traineeship Programme without regard to whether they are obliged to carry out traineeship in their schools or not.
  • Sending higher education institution and receiving institution does not have to have a bilateral agreement. Personal student emplacement agreements will be binding.

Required Documents for Application

  • Printout of application form after the completion of application process.
  • Invitation letter showing the period and content of the traineeship which is send by higher education institution (which should have “Extended” or “Placement Only” Erasmus Charter for Higher Education), business or private/state company.

  • Those students who will participate in Erasmus+ Traineeship Program are required to deliver a full scale health insurance that includes liability insurance (which covers the damages they might cause in their work place) and accident insurance (which covers the damages they might have while working).

General Information

Suitable Participant Organizations/Institutions 

  • The sending organisation/institution is required to be a Higher Education Institution awarded with ECHE.
  • The receiving organisation/institution is required to meet one of the criteria below:

Any kind of public or private enterprise which operates in education / training business. For example: 

  • Small- and medium-sized and large public or private enterprises (including social enterprises)
  • Public bodies at local, regional or national level
  • Social partners or other representatives of working life, including chambers of commerce, craft/professional associations and trade unions.
  • Research institutes
  • Foundations
  • A school/institute/educational centre (at any level, from pre-school to upper secondary education, and including vocational education and adult education)
  • Non-profit organizations, associations and NGOs
  • A body providing career guidance, professional counselling and information services
  • Each participant organization / institution must be located in one of the programme countries.
  • International higher education mobility between Programme Countries and Partner Countries will be put into action within Erasmus+ later.

Place(s) where mobility activity is conducted

Students must carry out their mobility activity in a Programme Country except for their residence country or the country in which sending institution is located. 

Suitable Participants 

  • Students who are registered to any levels of higher education (Associate Degree, Undergraduate Degree, Master’s Degree or PhD). If the mobility activity is about education, students are required to be at least second grade. There is no such a restriction for traineeship.
  • Graduates have the opportunity to participate in traineeship programme. However, they need to be picked by their own higher education institution during their final year and carry out their traineeship abroad within 1 year after their graduation.
  • Receiving institutions include institutions, education centres, research centres and other organizations which can be described as business. The institution in question must be a state or private profit organization which is involved in any kind of activity including social economy to make money without regard to its scale, legal status or economic sector
  • If the institution where the traineeship activity is conducted is a higher education institution, it is not compulsory for that institution to have ECHE since it is considered as an institution.

The following types of organizations are not eligible as receiving organizations

  • European Union institutions and EU bodies
  • Institutions which conducts EU programmes and receive grant for this purpose.
  • Our national representative offices in receiving countries.
  • None of our representative offices.

Things to Do Before Starting Mobility Activity

  • Signed and stamped letterheaded invitation letter given by the receiving institution, which includes traineeship subject, content, dates and its contribution to student, will be delivered to our International Office.

Erasmus candidate is responsible for delivering all the required documents to Erasmus Department Coordinator

Erasmus Department Coordinators send all the application forms to Erasmus Institutional Coordinator with a cover letter including “Erasmus Student Mobility for Traineeship – Candidates of the Department” by the final application date after checking the convenience of the invitation letters of all students who apply for Erasmus Student Mobility for Traineeship. Erasmus Department Coordinator keeps one copy of the applications.

Selection Procedure

English Proficiency Exam

Those who want to apply for the activity are required to take the exam conducted by Beykent University. 

Calculation of Erasmus Ranking Score

50% of GPA,

50% of English Language Exam Score. 

10 points will be cut from the total score of students who benefited from the programme before.
